The Pottery was established in 1983 and consists of successful farther, son and daughter trio. We are, Harry, Nick and Susan Juniper. Harry has now been potting for some 67 years, Susan specialises in Ceramics and Glass and lastly Nick who joined the business in 2002 after gaining experience from working with a variety of different local potters.
Our work is strongly influenced by that of the 17th century North Devon potters, who produced elaborately decorated harvest wares using the 'sgraffito' technique. All are produced from the local, rich, red earthenware clay and coated in a warm yellow lead glaze.
Over the years we have also commemorated the Queen's Silver Jubilee; the launching of great ships such as the Nonsuch, the Mayflower and the re-launching of the Kathleen & May.
We have our work exhibited on permanent display in many Art Galleries and Museums both here and abroad and much of it is owned or has been presented to Royalty and other famous celebrities.
We pride ourselves on making one off pieces for our customers covering anything from wedding jugs to christening plates ,funeral earns to a simple thank you jug. Obviously this is just an example of what we produce and nine times out of ten we meet the people we produce wares for but we will make pieces for people through the post or email. Most pieces take about six weeks and we do expect 30% of payment before we start your own personal piece of pottery.
